TP-Link's camera line, and the one that keeps detection out of the subscription
Tapo is TP-Link’s home camera line, and it appears ten times here — the second widest presence in the catalogue.
Detection without a subscription. On several competing cameras, person and vehicle classification sits behind a monthly plan, which means the camera notifies on every passing car until you pay. TP-Link states the AI detection on the C425 and the D205 is included.
Over three years that difference usually exceeds the price gap between two cameras, and it is the single most consequential thing about buying into this range.
The C500 listing tells buyers to look at the C510W or C520WS if they want 2K or colour night vision, and states plainly that it is not a battery camera. A manufacturer pointing away from its own product on its own listing is rare enough to be worth noting.
Card ceilings vary sharply across the range — the C200 stops at 128 GB while the C500 and D235 accept 512 GB — and Wi-Fi bands differ, with the C530WS offering Ethernet but only 2.4 GHz wireless. Both are in the specification rather than on the box.

The cheapest way into a pan-and-tilt outdoor camera that records to its own card. TP-Link states 1080p, a 360° horizontal sweep and night vision to 30 m, and the listing is unusually frank about what the model is not.
Best for: A first outdoor camera on a wall that already has a socket nearby, where 1080p is enough and the card matters more than the picture.

The model TP-Link points its own budget buyers towards. A 2560 × 1440 sensor behind an F1.6 lens gives colour at night without a spotlight, and unlike most cameras in this price band it can be wired to Ethernet instead of trusting Wi-Fi.
Best for: An outdoor position where Wi-Fi is unreliable and a network cable can be run, or where colour at night matters more than an unlit image.
